New Delhi. Several Swiss companies, including chocolate maker Barry Callebaut Group and technology company Buhler, are keen to invest in India. Switzerland’s Economic Affairs Minister Helen Budliger said this. Budliger said HESS Green Mobility intends to manufacture around 3,000 electric buses in India by 2025. For this, an investment of US $ 110 million will be made in the next six to eight years.
Chocolate maker Barry Callebaut Group is set to commission its third manufacturing unit in India by 2024, he said. With this, the company’s investment in India in the last five years will exceed five crore dollars. Similarly, technology group Buhler will invest an additional $23 million in the next two to three years. He said, “We know of many Swiss companies interested in investing in India. The list is very long, but happy to share the names of some of them… There are many small Swiss companies who want to enter the Indian market.
India and the four-nation European bloc EFTA had signed a trade deal – Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement (TEPA) – on March 10. These countries include Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. In this agreement, India has received a foreign direct investment commitment of $ 100 billion over 15 years from the member countries of the group. Switzerland has said that the process of parliamentary approval for TEPA will be started immediately. India and EFTA have been officially negotiating TEPA since January 2008 to boost economic relations.
