Market capitalization of five out of top 10 Sensex companies decreased by Rs 2.23 lakh crore

New Delhi. The market capitalization (market cap) of five of the top 10 most valued Sensex companies collectively declined by Rs 2,23,660 crore last week. Amidst the weak trend in the stock market, Reliance Industries and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) had to suffer the most losses. Last week, the 30-share BSE Sensex fell 1,475.96 points or 1.99 per cent. The market valuations of Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, State Bank of India, LIC and Hindustan Unilever declined during the week.
At the same time, the market position of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys and ITC increased. In the week under review, the market capitalization of Reliance Industries declined by Rs 81,763.35 crore to Rs 19,19,595.15 crore. Reliance Industries was the biggest loser. The market valuation of LIC declined by Rs 63,629.48 crore to Rs 5,84,967.41 crore and that of State Bank of India (SBI) declined by Rs 50,111.7 crore to Rs 6,53,281.59 crore.
Hindustan Unilever’s market cap declined by Rs 21,792.46 crore to Rs 5,46,961.35 crore. ICICI Bank’s valuation declined by Rs 6,363.11 crore to Rs 7,57,218.19 crore. Contrary to this trend, the market capitalization of TCS increased by Rs 38,858.26 crore to reach Rs 15,25,928.41 crore. Bharti Airtel’s valuation increased by Rs 11,976.74 crore to Rs 6,89,425.18 crore.
The market cap of ITC surged by Rs 7,738.51 crore to reach Rs 5,23,660.08 crore and that of Infosys surged by Rs 7,450.22 crore to reach Rs 6,78,571.56 crore. The market valuation of HDFC Bank increased by Rs 4,443.9 crore to Rs 11,03,151.78 crore. Reliance Industries remained at first position in the list of top 10 companies. It was followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Infosys, SBI, LIC, Hindustan Unilever and ITC respectively.
