Market closed in recovery mode, Sensex-Nifty rose

Stock Market Closing Bell: Today was a day full of ups and downs in the Indian stock market. The market appeared to be in a recovery mood after rising from the day’s low after 11.15 am. By the time the market closed, the Sensex was up 0.14 percent or 104.99 points at 72,748.42. Whereas, Nifty rose 0.15 percent or 32.35 points and closed at 22,055.70. There was a huge rise in metal and auto stocks in the market. Meanwhile, data related to China also maintained the market sentiment. China’s construction and manufacturing sector has improved. However, weakness still persists in real estate. In January-February, industrial production increased by seven percent on an annual basis. This figure is better than analysts’ estimates. During this period, expenditure on factories and equipment increased by 4.2 percent.
How was the condition of the sectors?
In the stock market, stocks of 15 companies in BSE Sensex comprising thirty shares closed in profit. However, a rise was seen in the stocks of 15 companies. Mixed trading was seen on Nifty. Metal saw a rise of 2.27 percent and auto saw a rise of 1.29 percent. Apart from this, growth was seen in the sectors of bank, pharma, reality, health care and oil and gas. Whereas, weakness was seen in IT, financial sector, FMCD and consumer durable sector. Today stocks of 4056 companies were traded in the market. Out of these, stocks of 2007 companies closed with a rise. Whereas, shares of 1932 companies closed in loss. Tata Steel, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, Tata Motors and Apollo Hospitals were among the top gainers on Nifty today. Whereas, shares of UPL, Ifsys, Tata Consumer, TCS, Titan and Adani Ports were included in the category of top losers.

Major stock indices faced volatility in early trade on Monday due to weakness in US markets and rise in crude oil prices. During this period, Sensex and Nifty opened with a rise, but could not maintain the lead in early trading. BSE’s 30-share Sensex had risen 126.36 points to reach 72,769.79. Similarly, NSE Nifty was up by 20.65 points at 22,044. However, both the indices soon lost their initial gains and went into the red.
