Market Updates: Rupee falls by 11 paise at 83.32 per dollar

The rupee fell by 11 paise to 83.32 against the US dollar in early trade on Tuesday amid negative trend in the domestic stock market and strengthening of the American currency in the foreign market.
Forex traders said withdrawal of foreign funds and demand for the dollar affected investor sentiments. At the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 83.28 per dollar and later slipped to 83.32 per dollar, a decline of 11 paise from its previous close.
The rupee had closed at 83.21 against the US dollar on Monday. Meanwhile, the dollar index, which gauges the strength of the US currency against six other currencies, was trading 0.20 per cent higher at 101.53.
Global oil benchmark Brent crude rose 1.60 percent to $78.27 per barrel. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 855.80 crore on Monday.
