Maruti sales up 10 percent at 1,78,083 units in May

New Delhi. Wholesale sales of the country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) grew by 10 per cent to 1,78,083 units in May. The company gave this information in a statement. In May last year, the company sold 1,61,413 vehicles. The company’s sales in the domestic market grew by 13 per cent to 1,51,606 units in May. It was 1,34,222 units in the same month last year. The company’s total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market grew by 15 per cent to 1,43,708 units. It was 1,24,474 units in the same month last year. Sales of the company’s mini cars Alto and S-Presso declined 30 per cent to 12,236 units in the month under review as compared to 17,408 units in the year-ago period.
Sales of compact cars Swift, Celerio, Ignis, Baleno and Dzire grew by five per cent to 71,419 units. It stood at 67,947 units in the same month last year. Sales of mid-size sedan Ciaz increased from 586 to 992 units. Sales of utility vehicles Brezza, Grand Vitara and Ertiga grew by 65 per cent to 46,243 units. It was 28,051 units in the same month a year ago. The company’s exports declined by three per cent to 26,477 units in May. It was 27,191 units in the same month a year ago.
