New Delhi. Maruti Suzuki India has expanded the production capacity of its Manesar facility by one lakh units per annum. The automotive major has added a vehicle ‘assembly line’ to the existing Plant-A, one of the three manufacturing plants it operates in Manesar, Haryana. “The new vehicle ‘assembly line’ has the capacity to produce one lakh units per year,” Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) said in a statement.
According to the statement, with the additional ‘assembly line’, Manesar’s total manufacturing capacity has reached nine lakh vehicles per year. MSI Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hisashi Takeuchi said, “We aim to almost double our capacity to 40 lakh vehicles per year in the next seven-eight years. This capacity addition of one lakh vehicles per year is a step towards this goal.
