Maruti Suzuki India crosses 2.5 million vehicles export mark

Maruti Suzuki said in a statement that its 25 lakhth vehicle exported is the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which was sent to Latin America from Mudra port in Gujarat.
New Delhi. Vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd on Wednesday said it has crossed 2.5 million units of cumulative exports since it started exporting vehicles in the 80s. The company started exports in 1986-87 to neighboring markets like Bangladesh and Nepal. It currently exports vehicles to over 100 countries, including Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. Maruti Suzuki said in a statement that its 25 lakhth vehicle exported is the Maruti Suzuki Baleno which was sent to Latin America from Mudra port in Gujarat.
Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Maruti Suzuki India, said, “The export of the 25 millionth vehicle is a hallmark of India’s manufacturing capability. This achievement reflects the commitment of Maruti Suzuki towards the ambitious Make in India initiative of the Government of India.” Takeuchi said that today Maruti Suzuki is India’s largest exporter of passenger vehicles.
