Encouraged by record exports in the last financial year, Maruti Suzuki India is confident that its exports will cross three lakh units in the current financial year 2024-25. According to a senior company official, the target for export is eight lakh units by 2030.

Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce more models in its various export markets spanning over 100 countries, while also expanding the distribution network. “Till about three years ago, our exports were in the range of 1 to 1.2 lakh cars annually,” Rahul Bharti, executive director of corporate affairs, Maruti Suzuki India, told PTI.

With a national vision and a business ambition, we decided to grow massively from these levels and reach approximately 2.59 lakh units in 2022-23. After this, in 2023-24 we completed the export figure of 2.83 lakh units.

He said while the rest of the car industry’s exports actually declined by three per cent in the last financial year, Maruti Suzuki’s exports grew by about 9.3 per cent to 2.83 lakh units. He said that this year Maruti Suzuki had 42 percent share in car exports from India.

Bharti said the company’s strategy is in line with the government’s goal under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to increase India’s exports. He said the production of the company’s electric cars will start in financial year 2024-25 and will be exported to advanced markets like Japan and Europe.
