MD and CEO of Paytm Payments Bank resigns from the company

New Delhi: Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) Managing Director and CEO Surinder Chawla has resigned due to personal reasons. One97 Communications Limited, the promoter company of Paytm Payments Bank, has given this information in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges.
The company said it has been informed by its subsidiary PPBL on Monday that its Managing Director and CEO Surinder Chawla has tendered his resignation with effect from April 8, 2024, due to personal reasons. He will be relieved from PPBL on June 26, 2024. His resignation comes as PPBL faces prohibitory action from central bank RBI.
In January this year, the RBI had directed PPBL to stop accepting deposits or top-ups in customer accounts, wallets, Fastag and other instruments after February 29. Almost all the agreements between the company and PPBL have been terminated with effect from March 1, 2024 and the board of PPBL has been reconstituted with five independent directors including an independent chairman and no nominee from the company.
