New Delhi: SoftBank-backed digital business platform Meesho aims to add 10 million new sellers on its platform by 2027 after GST provisions for online sellers are relaxed. Meesho’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vidit Atre gave this information on Tuesday. Along with this, he claimed that Meesho is the first e-commerce company in the country which has come to consolidated profit at the group level.
He expressed confidence that this pace will continue. Atre said, “We have 1.3 million sellers on our platform. The recent change in the vendor on-boarding policy will be a big boost. We aim to add one crore new sellers across the country by the year 2027. He said that e-commerce in the country is still at a nascent stage and only 15 to 20 lakh sellers sell online.
However, slowly it is changing. He said, “With increasing internet penetration, network reliability and online payments are on the rise. People are doing online shopping in a big way. Meesho does not charge any commission from its sellers. The company charges vendors only for providing advertising, logistics or other business facilities.
