Meeting of opposition parties regarding strategy in Parliament, will raise issue of Adani Enterprises

New Delhi : The Congress and several other opposition parties met on Thursday to chalk out their strategy for the ongoing budget session of Parliament and decided that they would raise the Adani Enterprises issue and some other issues during the session. Senior Congress leaders Jairam Ramesh, Trinamool Congress’s Sudip Bandopadhyay and Derek O’Brien, Aam Aadmi Party’s Sanjay Singh, DMK’s Kanimozhi, Samajwadi Party’s Ramgopal Yadav, Shiv Sena ( Uddhav Thackeray)’s Sanjay Raut and leaders of some other parties were present.
Sources said that the opposition parties have decided that they will raise the issue related to Adani Enterprises in both the Houses and demand a discussion on it. Kharge has given notice of adjournment of business under rule 267 in Rajya Sabha without directly mentioning Adani Enterprises. The notice sought to discuss the issue of investment by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), public sector banks and financial institutions in companies that have lost capital in the market.
In the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manickam Tagore has also given an adjournment notice demanding discussion on the issue of Adani Enterprises.
Congress MP Manish Tiwari tweeted that a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) should be constituted on the Adani episode.
In this session, opposition parties can surround the government on issues related to China, inflation, unemployment, economy, center-state relations etc. Manish Tiwari has given an adjournment notice demanding discussion on the issue of China.
The budget session of Parliament has started from Tuesday. The first part of the session will be till February 13. There will be no business of the House from February 14 to March 12 and during this time the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees will review the Demands for Grants and prepare reports related to their Ministries and Departments. The second part of the budget session will start from March 13 till April 6.
