Last month, in the 50th meeting of the GST Council, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) had said that investigations have found that 25 per cent GST accounts are non-existent or have gone missing after tax evasion of Rs 15,000 crore.
The central government is working fast to crack down on the cases of GST evasion or tax evasion and that is why the ‘Mera Bill Mera Adhikar’ scheme is being launched. Through this scheme, those who upload GST invoices of goods purchased under GST (Goods and Services Tax) will get a chance to win cash prizes. As per reports, this cash prize can range from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore.
