Last Friday, during the discussion on the atmosphere against Islam in the General Assembly of the United Nations, Pakistan’s Ambassador Munir Akram mentioned India’s consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in the Ram temple in Ayodhya and the recently implemented Citizenship Amendment Act with Islamophobia. Jodkar expressed his views and also demanded the appointment of a special envoy to monitor the situation in India.
On the above statement of Pakistan Ambassador Munir Akram, India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ruchira Kamboj said that Pakistan has a very bad record of dealing with minorities, that is why people of the minority community are leaving Pakistan and going to other countries. There is a lot of discrimination against people of Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh religions. Kamboj said that when the world is moving forward and adopting the practice of equality, it is sad that religious fanaticism and oppression of minorities is at its peak in Pakistan.
Ruchira said, the misleading mention of India has been made on the basis of wrong information and intentions. The world needs intelligence, digging deeper and looking at things from a global perspective. Therefore, Pakistan’s superficial approach should be rejected. The Indian representative said that there should be no negative sentiment towards any religion. Be it Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism or any other religion. India does not allow violence or discrimination against any person of any religion. There are strict and clear legal provisions to prevent it. In India, people of all religions are treated equally and they have the right to live and worship in their own way. People of all religions have equal opportunities to work in public and private sectors. If someone complains of harassment anywhere, there are strong legal provisions for justice, under which strict punishment is given.

Pakistan came into existence with the partition of India on the basis of religion in 1947. Due to partition, crores of people were made homeless, lakhs were murdered and keeping in view the rape of women, according to the agreement made in 1950 between India and Pakistan, they agreed to take responsibility for the safety of life and property of the minorities in their respective countries and to protect the minorities. It was said that there should be no forced conversion.
India still stands by the above agreement but due to Pakistan becoming an Islamic country, it has become difficult for the minorities there to live. Multi-daughters of minorities are not safe, one gets to read and hear news of kidnapping and conversion every day. This is the reason why lakhs of minorities are forced to leave Pakistan. Those who cannot leave Pakistan for some reason are being forcibly converted.

Along with the Pakistan government, a parallel government of fundamentalist Mullahs runs there and as a result of the pressure of the fundamentalist government, Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Christians etc. are forced to live a hellish life there. A country where minorities are forced to live a miserable and hellish life. It seems strange if the ambassador there points a finger at India.

The statement given by India’s representative Ruchira Kamboj to Pakistan is a true statement based on facts. Pakistan needs to introspect regarding the situation of minorities.
