Modi Cabinet: Cabinet approves Vishwakarma scheme, big decision taken regarding E-Bus service

Several major decisions have been taken in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has approved the Vishwakarma scheme. Apart from this, PM e-bus service has also been approved. During a briefing on the decisions of the Union Cabinet, Union Minister Anurag Thakur informed that the PM E-bus service has been approved. Rs 57,613 crore will be spent on this. Around 10,000 new electric buses will be made available across the country. At the same time, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav told that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the ‘Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma’ scheme to support people with traditional skills in the Union Cabinet meeting today. Under this scheme, loans up to Rs 1 lakh will be made available on liberal terms.

Anurag Thakur said that out of Rs 57,613 crore, the central government will give Rs 20,000 crore. The scheme will cover cities with a population of 3 lakh and above. Under this scheme, city bus operations will be done on Public Private Partnership (PPP) model with 10,000 e-buses. The scheme will support bus operations for 10 years. The cabinet approved ‘PM Vishwakarma’ scheme to support traditional artisans and craftsmen from rural and urban India. With a financial outlay of Rs 13,000 crore, the scheme will cover 18 in the first instance.

Apart from this, to give a big boost to railway infrastructure, the cabinet has approved 7 projects of the Ministry of Railways with an estimated cost of about Rs 32,500 crore. Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav informed that the cabinet approved the expansion of the Digital India programme, with an allocation of Rs 14,903 crore.
