Modi government approves 27 manufacturers under PLI Scheme-2.0 for IT Hardware


New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News)- The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had approved PLI Scheme – 2.0 for IT Hardware on May 17, 2023, building on the success of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI) for mobile phones. . This plan covers laptops, tablets, all-in-one PCs, servers, and ultra small form factor devices. Today the applications of 27 IT hardware manufacturers have been approved. IT hardware from well-known brands like Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo etc. will be manufactured in India. The expected outcomes of this approval during the period of the scheme are as follows:
• Employment: Total around 02 lakhs
• About 50,000 (direct) and about 1.5 lakh (indirect)
• Value of IT hardware production: Rs 3 lakh 50 thousand crore (US$ 42 billion)
• Investment by companies: Rs 3,000 crore (US$360 million)
Addressing industry leaders and media, Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnav said that out of 27 approved applicants, 23 are ready to start manufacturing from today itself.
