According to the 2024 report of Hurun Global Research released on Tuesday, Mumbai has reached third place globally in terms of billionaires after New York. Last year, 26 new billionaires were created in Mumbai city of Maharashtra. Mumbai has 92 billionaires, while Beijing now has 91 billionaires. However, China currently has 814 billionaires compared to India’s 271.
According to Hurun Research, the total wealth of China’s billionaires in Beijing is $265 billion, which has seen a decline of 28 percent compared to last year. Sectors that have increased the net worth of Mumbai’s billionaires include energy and pharmaceuticals, which have seen a tremendous increase in the wealth of business tycoons like Mukesh Ambani.
Among Mumbai’s billionaires, the net worth of real estate giant Mangal Prabhat Lodha and his family has seen the highest increase of 116 percent. However, there has been a lot of ups and downs in the global ranking of Indian billionaires. However, Mukesh Ambani has retained his position at 10th position. Gautam Adani has climbed eight places to reach 15th position.
