Mumbai (Uttam Hindu News): India’s Mumbai is emerging as one of the top data center markets in the Asia-Pacific region, according to a latest report by Knight Frank, a global consultant firm on the property market.
Shanghai (2,692MW), Tokyo (2,575MW), and Mumbai (2,337MW) are the top data center markets in the Asia-Pacific region, Knight Frank said in its latest data center report based on its study for the first quarter of 2024. have emerged.
The report, produced in association with data center research and analytics platform “DC Byte”, focuses on nine fast-growing markets in the Asia Pacific region. These cities include Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo.
Over 40 per cent of the current operational capacity in Mumbai was to be utilized in 2022. With a total of 2,337 MW of projects, Mumbai city ranks third in terms of total capacity for data center services in the region.
According to the report, Shanghai, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore and Hong Kong have the majority of call center capacity in operation, and data center projects in these locations are fast building and operating, and are in high demand.
Mumbai is the only city in India on the study and the total capacity expansion of the market has crossed the 2,000 MW mark and the city is an exceptional growth story in this sector. A new capacity of 328 MW has been added in Mumbai. Digital Edge, a new firm entering the Mumbai market, is all set to provide hyperscale facilities. It is supported by Stonepeak.
