New Delhi. Debt or bond mutual funds (fixed income funds) saw strong inflows in April after heavy outflows in March. These schemes raised Rs 1.06 lakh crore during this period, of which cash schemes account for 60 per cent. Data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (Amfi) showed that except for credit risk and banking and PSU fund category, all categories saw net inflows. Lower maturity categories gained the most.
VK Vijayakumar, chief investment strategist, Geojit Financial Services, said inflows into fixed income mutual funds are likely to decline due to non-availability of tax benefits from indexation from April 1. According to the data, there was a net inflow of Rs 1.06 lakh crore in debt mutual funds in April, while there was a net outflow of Rs 56,884 crore from them in the previous month.
