The government may issue a new five-year Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) by the end of this month. Giving this information on Wednesday, a top official said that the aim of the new policy is to promote exports of goods and services. Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal said that the ministry has looked into various aspects of FTP and the policy is basically an amalgamation of various incentive schemes.
The new foreign trade policy has also added a visionary aspect as the ministry is aiming to take the export of goods and services to US$ 2,000 billion by 2030. So, we have prepared our FTP within this framework and we are expecting it to be released by the end of this month,” he told reporters here. The objective of FTP is to accelerate economic growth and employment generation by increasing exports.
