New Delhi (Best Hindu News): The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), the government agency that issued Aadhaar identification number, has given the facility to residents of the country to verify their mobile number and email ID linked to their Aadhaar. With this, the concerns of the card holders about OTP going to any other number or mail will be resolved. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Broadcasting said in a release on Tuesday that this decision has been taken for the convenience of the people.
It was reported to UIDAI that in some cases Aadhaar-card holders were not aware/not sure which mobile number was linked to their Aadhaar. Cardholders were worried that the Aadhaar OTP is not going to any other mobile number. Now, with this facility, residents can view these quite easily.
This facility can be availed through mAadhaar app under ‘Verify Email/Mobile Number’ feature, the statement said. It is developed for the residents to verify that their own email/mobile number is linked with the respective Aadhaar.
In case a particular mobile number is not linked, it also sends an intimation to the cardholder resident in the country, informing him to update the mobile number if he so desires. If the mobile number is already verified then the person will get a message on the screen that – ‘The mobile number entered by you is already verified from our records’, which is displayed on their screen. If a resident does not remember the mobile number given during enrolment, he/she can check the last three digits of the mobile on the Aadhaar verification feature on the MyAadhaar portal or mAadhaar App.
The release said that if a resident wants to link email/mobile number with Aadhaar or wants to update his email/mobile number, he can visit the nearest Aadhaar centre.
