A big update has come out regarding Fastag on Paytm. Due to the closure of Paytm Payments Bank Limited, it is going to affect two crore users also. A new advisory has also been issued by the National Highway Authority of India. NHAI has appealed to a total of 32 banks to buy Fastag. Paytm Payments Bank has not been included in this list released by NHAI. That means Paytm Fastag users will have to buy a new Fastag. Paytm Payments Bank is no longer registered to provide Fastag service.
Now only 32 banks across the country are authorized to buy Fastag. This information has been given by IHMCL. Paytm’s name has not been included in the list of 32 banks. These 32 authorized banks include Airtel Payments Bank, Allahabad Bank, Bank of Baroda, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, IDBI Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India and Yes Bank. Paytm Payments Bank has been removed from the list of purchasing Fastag. If reports are to be believed, those who have received the Paytm tag will have to surrender it. To purchase new tags, one will have to contact the bank included in the list.

Regarding Paytm Fastag, RBI said that it cannot be used after February 29. If Paytm is Fastag then it can be used only till 29th February. After this no transaction can be done through Paytm payment. Every transaction of Paytm payment will be banned. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had on January 31 directed Paytm’s unit Paytm Payments Bank Limited (PPBL) not to accept deposits or top-ups in any customer account, prepaid product, wallet and Fastag after February 29, 2024. .
The central bank had said in a statement that the directive was given following continued non-compliance. IHMCL said it is encouraging ‘FASTag’ users to complete the latest ‘FASTag’ KYC (Know Your Customer) process under the RBI guidelines. With a penetration rate of around 98 per cent and over eight crore users, ‘Fastag’, equipped with Radio-Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, offers users the service of paying highway toll charges directly from linked bank accounts.
