NHPC paid an interim dividend of Rs 997.75 crore to the government

New Delhi (Best Hindu News): NHPC, a leading hydropower undertaking of the central government, on Thursday paid an interim dividend of Rs 997.75 crore to the government.
RK Vishnoi, Chairman and Managing Director of this ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I company, handed over the bank advice of interim dividend payment of Rs 997.75 crore to the Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy RK Singh here. On this occasion, Power Secretary Alok Kumar, Special Secretary and Financial Advisor in the Ministry Ashish Upadhyay and other officials of the Ministry and the company were present.
NHPC has already paid Rs.356.34 crore as final dividend for the financial year 2021-22 to the government during the current financial year. Thus the company has paid a total dividend of Rs 1354.09 crore to the government during 2022-23.
The Board of Directors of the company, in its meeting held on February 7, had declared an interim dividend at the rate of Rs 1.40 per equity share ie 14.00 per cent of the face value.
NHPC has more than eight lakh shareholders and the total interim dividend paid for the financial year 2022-23 has been Rs 1406.30 crore. The company had paid a total dividend of Rs 1.81 per share for the financial year 2021-22 with a total expenditure of Rs 1818.15 crore.
NHPC has earned a net profit of Rs.3264.32 crore for the nine months ended FY 2022-23 as against Rs.2977.62 crore in the same period last year. The company had earned a net profit of Rs 3537.71 crore in the financial year 2021-22.
