Nitin Desai Passes Away: The death of famous art director and producer Nitin Chandrakant Desai on Wednesday morning shocked the entire film industry. Cause of death of Nitin Desai revealed in postmortem report

The SP of Maharashtra’s Raigad district had confirmed Nitin Desai’s death after reaching ND Studio after being called by the set personnel. The Khalapur police brought the body to JJ Hospital for postmortem. On Wednesday, August 2, a postmortem of the late art director was conducted by a team of four doctors and preliminary findings indicate that the cause of death is hanging. Raigad police said, “The postmortem of art director Nitin Desai has been conducted by a team of four doctors. As per preliminary findings, the cause of death is hanging. Further investigation is underway.”

Nitin Desai’s company was on the verge of bankruptcy

Earlier, it was reported that Nitin Desai was under stress due to financial issues and his company was on the verge of bankruptcy. Apparently, his company had defaulted on a loan of Rs 252 crore. The police are still investigating the art director’s death. Raigad SP said, “The equipment we found at the spot, including mobile phones and other accessories and electronic equipment, has been seized and we are examining them. We have also taken the statement of his caretaker and driver and are probing it.

When will the last rites of Nitin Desai be held?

Nitin Desai had worked with notable filmmakers like Rajkumar Hirani, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the past. He also had four National Awards in art direction. Several Bollywood celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Madhur Bhandarkar, Riteish Deshmukh, Hema Malini, Parineeti Chopra expressed grief over his sudden demise and mourned his loss on social media. Nitin Desai’s last rites will take place on Friday, August 4, when his family, who live in the US, will return to Mumbai. The last rites will be performed at ND Studio in Karjat.

BJP general secretary had said this about Nitin Desai

Noted art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai had defaulted on a loan of Rs 252 crore to his financial lender, and a bankruptcy court last week accepted a bankruptcy petition against his company. Desai’s company, ND’s Art World Pvt Ltd, had borrowed ₹185 crore through two loans from ECL Finance in 2016 and 2018, and the repayment troubles started in January 2020. BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde, who was a close friend of Nitin Desai, said in an interview, “I used to often talk to him and give him advice. I told him how Amitabh Bachchan had faced a huge loss and again came back to life. We told him that even though the studio was attached due to debt, he could start afresh. Very sad to hear about his death. I spoke to him the day before yesterday.”

Nitin Desai did recording before suicide

A studio source told ETimes, “ND had planned it very well. Last night he took all the keys from the security and told his boy to leave him alone in the studio as he has some important work to do.” ND came to see him till the gate and asked him to come the next morning at around 8.30 am.
