24 carat gold is soft

SK Suman, the regional head of the Bureau of Indian Standards, said on Monday that real gold is only 24 carats, but its jewelery is not made, because it is very soft. 22 carat gold is used for jewelry, which contains 91.66 percent gold. Only coins, bangles etc are made in 24 carat.

200 rupees will have to be paid

Gupta said that by including 24 carat gold with Hallmark HUID, buyers will be saved from being cheated. He told that a minimum fee of Rs 200 will have to be paid for the four piece hallmark. Apart from this, Rs 45 and GST will have to be paid for one piece. At present there are 14 hallmarking centers in Patna, while there are 41 hallmarking centers in the entire state.

Hallmark guarantees purity

Hallmark guarantees the purity of gold. A number is written on the jewellery, which is called HUID number. This number is written very closely, so a lens has to be used to see it. This number can also be verified on the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) portal or on the BIS Care app.
