According to an estimate, the illegal business of Halal certification is worth more than Rs 3000 crore and this money is being misused to help anti-national activities and terrorist organizations. The business of Halal certification is running not only in Uttar Pradesh but all over India and this business came to India in 1974 as part of a nefarious conspiracy. The process of Halal certification is against the one country, two legislatures and constitutional values.

In order to completely stop this illegal business of Halal certification, the state government has registered an FIR against various organizations on the complaint of Shailendra Kumar Sharma in Hazratganj Kotwali, Lucknow, which include Halal India Private Limited Chennai, Jamiat Ulema Hind Halal Trust Delhi and Lucknow, Halal Council of India Mumbai and some other companies. A large quantity of food products from India are exported to Gulf countries like Singapore, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc. and many international markets where there is a large Islamic population. In such a situation, most of the companies in the country get Halal certification done for their products. Unfortunately, there is no government company for Halal certification in India due to which these fraud companies are successful in doing unfair and illegal business. They are earning huge money and using it against the country. These companies are suspected to have links with different terrorist organizations.

The ban on Halal certified products in Uttar Pradesh has started a nationwide debate on this very serious and dangerous issue. People supporting the ban on Halal products are saying that this illegal business should be banned all over India. It is also true that the ban on Halal products will be effective only when it is banned in all the states of the country and by making a strict law on certification, this work of certification for export is given to a national institute.

People supporting Halal are repeatedly invoking the Constitution, but perhaps these people do not know that the Government of India has its own Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) since independence. Supporting the steps of the UP government, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that government agencies should find out what kind of chemical additives, artificial and harmful elements are present in food products. He said government bodies should have the authority to certify which food is of quality for people’s consumption. Those opposing the action against illegal Halal certification are calling this illegal act as constitutional during the debates, claiming that we are paying GST and they believe that action against Halal certified products may increase inflation. , Unemployment may increase, there may be a crisis of food products in the markets, etc. It is also being argued in favor of Halal certified products that it is a matter of religion and faith for the Muslim society. Even if it is accepted that Halal certification is a matter of religion and faith for the Muslim society, then why should a large section of the Hindu society, who remains a complete vegetarian on the occasion of fast and fasting, be affected by their faith by selling Halal certified food items?
