Employees working in government banks across the country are going to get a big gift. The salaries of officers and employees working in public sector banks are going to increase, knowing that there is no limit to the happiness of the employees. The salary of employees working in government banks will increase by 17 percent.

This decision will be effective from November, 2022. A total of eight lakh bank employees across the country will benefit from this decision. In this regard, an important meeting was held between the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and bank employee organizations on Friday, March 8, in which consensus was reached on many issues. In this context, there was also a demand for 17 percent annual salary increase, on which an agreement has been reached with the union. While the employees are very happy after this decision, the increase will also increase the financial burden on public sector banks. There will be an annual burden of Rs 8,284 crore on public sector banks.

An important meeting was held between IBA, bank officials and employee organizations, in which the revision in annual salary was discussed in detail. After this decision, All India Bank Officers Confederation says that bank employees currently get only two Saturdays off, in which a demand for change has been raised. In the meeting, holiday has been announced for bank employees on all Saturdays of the month, which has been said to be approved. Apart from holidays, amendment in working hours has also been discussed. It is believed that if bank employees get leave on four Saturdays then the working hours can be revised. The proposal to amend the working hours will come into effect after notification by the government.

Meanwhile, the Bank Officers Organization says that the new pay scale has been determined by including Dearness Allowance (DA) of 8088 marks and additional weightage on it. Under the new wage settlement, all women employees will be allowed to take one day’s sick leave every month even without giving a medical certificate. It states that accumulated Privilege Leave (PL) can be encashed up to 255 days at the time of retirement or death of the employee during service. Sunil Mehta, chief executive officer of banks’ body IBA, said in a message on social media platform ‘X’ that today is an important milestone for the banking industry.

IBA and UFBU, AIBOU, AIBASM and BKSM have signed the 9th Joint Note and 12th Bilateral Agreement regarding wage revision for bank officers and employees. This will be effective from November 1, 2022. In case of retired employees, it has been agreed that the monthly ex-gratia amount will be paid in addition to the pension/family pension paid by the public sector banks. This amount will be given to those pensioners and family pensioners who have become eligible to receive pension on or before October 31, 2022. People retiring on that date will also come under its purview.
