New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): You will no longer be able to activate Windows 11 with old Windows 7 keys, as Microsoft has now completely blocked them from activating your copy of the latest Windows 11. This flaw existed for years and people upgraded from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 or 11 for free. Last month, the company announced it was blocking Windows 7 and Windows 8 keys from activating Windows 11.
The company had said in an update, “Microsoft’s free upgrade offer for Windows 10 and 11 ended on July 29. The installation path to get Windows 7 and 8 free upgrades has also now been removed. Upgrades from Windows 10 to Windows 11 are still free. ” Windows 7 keys are now completely blocked from clean installs of Windows 11, The Verge reports. The error message reads, “We can’t activate Windows on this device because you don’t have a valid digital license or product key.”
If you’ve upgraded to Windows 11 from Windows 7 or Windows 8, or used one of these older keys, your activation state won’t change. To upgrade to Windows 11, the device must meet Windows 11 minimum system requirements. According to Microsoft, “Some Windows 10 features are not available in Windows 11. “System requirements to experience some Windows 11 features and apps will exceed Windows 11 minimum system requirements.”
