Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that consideration is being given to increasing the speed of trains from 110 km per hour to 130 km per hour. Work on this is ongoing.

The Railway Minister said that for this, work will be done to install security fencing at sensitive places. Not only this, to achieve a speed of more than 130 km per hour, safety fencing will be installed on the entire track.

It is noteworthy that Vande Bharat trains are known for their semi-speed capacity. These trains are capable of running on the track at a speed of up to 160 km per hour.

Due to problems in signaling, track infrastructure as well as fencing, Indian Railways is not able to run them on the tracks at full speed. When BJP MP Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi asked a question regarding the security of the railway track for Vande Bharat trains, Ashwini Vaishnav, while replying, mentioned the priority given by the Railways to security.

The Railway Minister told in the Lok Sabha that a road map is ready for inspection, maintenance as well as repair of the tracks. He said that for speed increase from 110 km per hour to 130 km per hour, it is necessary to install safety fencing at sensitive places.

Answering the question raised on the activities of anti-social elements on the railway tracks, the Railway Minister said that from January to November 2023, there have been 4 incidents related to keeping suspicious objects on the tracks, for which legal action has been taken against those responsible.
