Now you can order from Swiggy in trains too, Railways joins hands with the company

New Delhi (Uttam Hindu News): Online food delivery platform Swiggy on Tuesday said the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) to provide food delivery service in trains. According to the MoU, Swiggy will deliver food to train passengers traveling through Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada. The company said the service is likely to be expanded to 59 additional city stations across the country in the coming weeks.
Swiggy CEO Rohit Kapoor issued a statement saying, If during these rail journeys, which pass through states and districts, one has the option to order food to explore the culinary diversity of India, it will add to the experience. Will make it more convenient and enjoyable.
To avail the meal services pre-ordered through Swiggy, passengers will have to enter the PNR on the IRCTC app. Preferred station has to be selected for food delivery. One has to browse the wide list of restaurants on the app and choose a restaurant that is delivering food. Sanjay Kumar Jain, Chairman and Managing Director, IRCTC, said, this partnership with Swiggy will bring more convenience and dining options to our passengers, making their journeys more memorable.
Additionally, the company said that the food served to passengers will be packed in insulated Swiggy bags to keep them hot and fresh. Swiggy’s delivery partner will reach the selected platform a few minutes before the delivery, hand over the food to the customer and drive away.
