To reduce the price of onion, the government has banned the export of onion till March next year. The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has issued a notification in this regard. The notification said that the policy of export of onion has been changed from free to restricted category till March 31, 2024. After this step of the government, onion prices will not make many people cry.

Household budget is deteriorating

Due to the rising price of onion, people’s household budget is also getting disturbed. The general public is more troubled by the rising price of onion. The price of normal vegetarian and non-vegetarian thali has increased in November due to rising prices of onion and tomato. The prices of onion and tomato have increased by 58 percent and 35 percent respectively on monthly basis. Onion and tomato prices increased due to lower production in the kharif season due to festival demand and irregular rainfall. In November, the prices of home-made vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis increased by 10 percent and five percent respectively on a monthly basis. On a monthly basis, chicken prices declined marginally by one to three percent.

Facility issued for wheat also

In view of the rising prices of wheat, the Central Government has also asked the Food Corporation of India to release wheat in large quantities in the market. Retail prices can be controlled due to availability of wheat in abundance. Talking about wheat and flour, the price of flour has reached Rs 40 per kg in the retail market.
