20 weeks leave
Calling it part of its inclusiveness initiative, the bank said in a statement that 20 weeks of paternity and adoption leave is available to employees regardless of their gender, marital status or the way the child becomes part of the family. There will be no effect.
Women employees will get 26 weeks maternity leave
The bank said that its women employees in India will continue to get 26 weeks of maternity leave as before.
83,000 employees worldwide
Standard Chartered has approximately 83,000 employees worldwide. About 30,000 of these workers are employed in India, of which 20,000 are male workers.
Will get benefit from 1st September
The bank said that the employees will start getting the benefit of increase in father and adoption leave from September 1. After the implementation of this decision, employees will get paid leave of up to 20 weeks in case of becoming a father or adopting a child.
