With the arrival of cold weather, the number of patients in Dumka’s Phulo Jhano Medical College Hospital and private clinics has started increasing. For about seven days, patients suffering from cold, cough, fever, body ache, stomach ache, vomiting and asthma have been reaching the hospital for treatment. Crowd of patients is being seen in private hospitals and clinics. As the weather changes, the number of patients in Child and Medicine OPD is increasing. Most of the patients in this suffer from cold, cough and fever. Patients suffering from respiratory and heart diseases are also coming for treatment. Five patients have been admitted to the ICU ward, who are undergoing treatment. Facilities for admission and treatment of serious patients are available in medicine, ICU and casualty wards. Apart from essential medicines and saline, oxygen facility is available here. To keep an eye on the physical activities of serious patients in ICU and casualty wards, the facility of monitors is available on every bed. The facility of ABG machine (Arterial Blood Gas Analysis) is available in all three wards for examination of serious patients. With this, there is a facility to test carbon dioxide, oxygen, RBS, hemoglobin, sodium, potassium, calcium etc. in the blood in a few minutes. Due to lack of cardiologist facility in the ICU ward, serious patients are referred for better treatment. Financially helpless patients face a lot of problems.
