New Delhi: There was a carnage on Wall Street last night. The market remained in the red due to heavy fall in banking stocks. Domestic banking stocks fell in the early market. Domestic banking stocks fell sharply in early trade, mirroring a decline in global banking equities. With a loss of around 1.5%, BSE Bankex was the worst performing sector. HDFC Bank and Bank of Baroda became its factors.

The Indian stock market also opened with a heavy fall. The Indian stock market crashed due to heavy losses in the financial services, capital goods and information technology sectors. However, BSE Utilities and BSE Power are the only sectors which have gained momentum. These sectors avoided slippage due to rally in Adani Transmission, Adani Green Energy. These shares have 5% upper circuit.

At 10:30 am, the BSE Sensex was down 1.18% at 59,101. At the same time, the Nifty 50 index fell 1.09% to 17,398. Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, and NTPC were the top gainers on Sensex today. Whereas HDFC, HDFC Bank, SBI have been the draggers of the market. Broader indices outperformed the core indices. The advance-to-decline ratio remained firmly in favor of the bearers, with 1,109 scrips advancing while 1,966 scrips declined on the BSE. Shares of BSE top smallcap gainer Deep Polymers Ltd soared over 16%, keeping small-cap bulls busy.
