New Delhi : Indian benchmark indices were trading in the green on the first trading day of the week. On Monday afternoon, the BSE Sensex was trading at 65,198 with a gain of 0.39 per cent or 252 points. At the same time, the NSE Nifty was seen trading at 19,384 with a gain of 0.38 per cent or 75 points. Around 2,054 scrips were seen in green, 1,483 scrips in red and 184 scrips were unchanged on BSE.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd., Bajaj Finvas Ltd. and NTPC Ltd. remained the top gainers of the day on the Bombay Stock Exchange. While Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Reliance Industries Ltd. and Jio Financial Services Ltd. declined the most.

The indices were trading lower in the broader markets. The BSE Mid-Cap index saw a decline of 0.29%. At the same time, the BSE Small-Cap index showed an increase of 0.03%. Top mid-cap gainers were Cholamandalam Investment & Finance Company Limited and Adani Power Limited. While top small cap gainers were Copran Limited and Confidence Petroleum India Limited.

The market capitalization of BSE listed companies as on 21 August 2023 was about Rs 306 lakh crore. 176 stocks were at 52 week high and 35 stocks were at 52 week low. Here are the penny stocks that hit the upper circuit today:
