Mumbai: Conflicted investor sentiment found in Asian markets also affected Indian benchmark indices today. Today these indices opened flat. The indices fell despite the fact that most sectors were trading higher. Sectors that declined on the BSE were BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods and BSE Auto, while real estate, IT and telecom stocks gained. This supported the indices. Looking at the Advance Decline Ratio on BSE, 2,081 stocks advanced and 1,175 declined today. With this, the advance-decline ratio remained strongly in favor of advances.

At 11:40 am, the BSE Sensex fell 0.30% to the level of 62,157. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.26% to 18,352. On Sensex, Bajaj Finance, Bajaj Finserv and Infosys were top gainers, while HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki were top losers.

The Broader indexes outperformed the Main indexes by a significant margin. Shares of Vesuvius India Ltd. were the top gainer in BSE Smallcap. It closed on 20% upper circuit, touching a new 52-week high on BSE. There was heavy buying in the shares of Pearl Global Industries Limited and Indo Amines Limited.
