MumbaiNo good news from China. Asian stock markets are also affected by expected weak economic data. Due to this, there was a mixed trend in these markets. Today Indian stock market also opened flat due to significant gains in electricity and utility sectors but later rose sharply.

With gains of over one per cent, BSE Power, BSE Utilities, BSE Capital Goods and BSE Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sectors were the strongest performers. However, the decline in metal and telecom stocks continued. Looking at the advance decline ratio on BSE, 1,660 scrips advanced while 1,556 scrips declined.

At 11:20 am on Tuesday, the BSE Sensex rose 0.52% to a level of 60,403. The Nifty 50 index rose 0.46% to reach the level of 17,977. On Sensex, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever and HCL Technologies were top gainers, while IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finserv and Tata Steel were top losers.

Today in the market the Brander indices underperformed and were trading in the red zone. On the other hand, Shares of Specialty Restaurants rallied over 12% on the BSE and were trading at a new 52-week high. There was also heavy buying in shares of Spencers Retail and Transformers & Rectifiers.

Today these penny stocks got stuck in the upper circuit and closed. These can be monitored in the coming session.
