Mumbai: Weak economic data has come in America. Along with this, aggressive comments from the US Federal Reserve have also come to the fore. This resulted in a decline of about 2% in the major US indices. Investors witnessed a mixed mood in Asian markets as Indian benchmark indices opened at a lower level.

At 11:10 am on Thursday, the BSE Sensex fell 0.17% to the level of 60,939. The Nifty 50 index fell 0.22% to the level of 18,126. On Sensex, Tata Steel, HDFC Bank and Axis Bank were top gainers, while Titan, Hindustan Unilever and IndusInd Bank were top losers.

Barring some marginal gains in Energy, Metal and Oil & Gas sectors, all the sectoral indices were trading with losses. With losses of over 1%, BSE Utilities and BSE Power were the worst performing sectors. The Advance Decline Ratio remained neutral on the BSE, with 1,573 scrips advancing and 1,618 scrips declining.

Despite the decline, the Browder Indices outperformed the Main Indices. Shares of Mahindra Lifespace Developers, top smallcap gainer on BSE, gained over 7%. Shares of Chaman Lal Setia Exports and Usha Martin Limited were also heavily bought.
