Mumbai: The Federal Reserve’s policy rates are about to be announced. Wall Street indices fell last night on fears of a Fed rate hike. Its effect was also seen on the Asian markets. It is obvious that this had to have an impact on the Indian stock markets as well. That’s why the index went into the negative zone as soon as the market opened in the morning. IT and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) stocks were the worst performers. However, BSE Telecom emerged as the best performing sector, with a gain of around 1.5%.

At 10:35 am today, the BSE Sensex fell by 0.38% to reach a level of 59,275. The Nifty 50 index also fell 0.29% to 17,597. On Sensex, Power Grid Corporation of India, State Bank of India and Mahindra & Mahindra were top gainers, while Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies and Bajaj Finance were top losers.

Looking at the advance decline ratio on BSE, 1,947 stocks advanced and 1,191 declined. At the same time, the advance-to-decline ratio showed strongly in favor of the gainer. Broader indices outperformed the core indices by a significant margin, with the BSE Smallcap index rising over 1%. Shares of BSE top smallcap gainer Trident Ltd jumped over 8%, keeping small-cap bulls busy.

Here is the list of penny stocks stuck in upper circuit today. Keep an eye on these stocks for the coming session.
