The Dow Jones Industrial Average remained range-bound throughout the day, but finally closed at 33,561, up 56 points. In contrast, the Nasdaq 100 closed at 13,201, down 0.68% from the day’s high and yesterday’s low.
People’s interest in gold is increasing. Due to this the metal closed positively at around 0.6% yesterday. Silver was also trading positively and closed at around 0.2%. Additionally, Brent crude futures rebounded from the day’s low and eventually closed 0.8 per cent higher. In the equity segment, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought Rs 1942.19 crore and domestic institutional investors (DIIs) bought Rs 404.70 crore yesterday.
Looking at the Advance Decline Ratio on BSE today, 1,589 stocks gained and 1,117 stocks declined. With this, the advance-decline ratio remained in favor of the gainers. On Sensex, IndusInd Bank, Power Grid Corp and Tata Motors were top gainers. While SBI, Axis Bank and Infosys were the top losers in the market. Shares of Bliss GVS Pharma, top smallcap gainer on the BSE, jumped over 11.6%.
