Parkash Singh Badal was born on December 8, 1927 in Abulkhurana village of Bathinda, Punjab. He started his political journey in 1947 as Sarpanch of the village. Parkash Singh Badal won his first assembly election in the year 1957. In 1970, when he was 43, he became the youngest Chief Minister of Punjab. Parkash Singh Badal took oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab for a total of 5 times. He also has a unique record in his name, where on one hand he became the youngest Chief Minister of Punjab, on the other hand, when he completed his 5th term as Chief Minister in the year 2017, he was also the oldest Chief Minister at the age of 90 years. He was the head of the Shiromani Akali Dal which talks about the representation of Sikhs.

At the same time, this party often supported the BJP moving forward on the issue of Hindutva. He had a role in almost every movement, decision in post-independence Punjab. He spent more than 17 years in jail due to his participation in several movements. Prime Minister Narendra Modi once called him the Nelson Mandela of India. Badal would often surprise party workers and others in remote villages by calling them by their first names. He popularized the ‘Sangat philosophy’, which many other political parties tried to emulate. Badal, who remained humble even when he made mistakes, was believed to call the police and secretariat officials in the morning regarding any news published in the newspaper.

It has been said in the Chanakya Sutra that the physical body of a man dies, not his body in the form of fame or fame, that is, his fame remains constant. S. Prakash Singh Badal is physically dead today but his fame will remain forever. From the point of view of history, there are two types of people, one who reads history and the other who creates history, Prakash Singh Badal belonged to the class of history creators. S. With the demise of Prakash Singh Badal, it seems impossible to fill the void that has come in the politics of Punjab, especially in the Akali politics.
