New Delhi: There has been no change in the price of petrol and diesel in the country for more than a year. But soon this situation is going to change. Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has indicated that the price of petrol and diesel can be cut. He said on Saturday that if the price of crude oil remains stable, then the Oil Marketing Companies may decide to cut the price of petrol and diesel. Puri also said that if the performance of these companies is good in the next quarter, then they will be in a better position to cut the prices of petrol and diesel. But meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab has increased VAT on petrol and diesel.

Oil marketing companies last changed the price of petrol and diesel in April last year. In May, the Center reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel. Since then there has been no change in the price of petrol and diesel in the country. Assembly elections are to be held in many states this year and then general elections will be held in the country next year. That’s why it is believed that the price of petrol and diesel may come down in the coming days. Petrol currently costs Rs 96.72 in Delhi and diesel costs Rs 89.62 per litre.
