Railway Board DA Hike: Indian Railway Board has given a big Diwali gift to its employees on Dussehra. The board has increased the dearness allowance of employees from 42 percent to 46 percent. Along with increased dearness allowance, employees will get arrears of dearness allowance from July 2023.

More than 11 lakh employees are going to benefit from this decision of the Railway Board. Giving this information, on Monday the Board has written a letter to the General Managers and Chief Administrative Officers of All India Railways and Production Units. The increased dearness allowance before Diwali has been welcomed by the employees and the railway union.

Last week, bonus for railway employees was also announced by the Central Government. Railways had announced approval to give productivity based bonus equal to 78 days’ salary to all non-gazetted employees.

The benefit of Railway Bonus will be availed by all 11,07,346 non-gazetted employees of various departments and ministries of Railways including Railway Track Maintainer, Loco Pilot, Guard, Station Master, Supervisor, Technician, Helper, Pointsman. For this, approval of Rs 15 thousand crore has been given.

Dearness Allowance (DA) is a type of allowance which is given to government employees and pensioners in the form of increase in their salary or pension according to inflation. Its objective is that when inflation increases, their salary or pension should be increased to improve their economic conditions.

Inflation rate is considered to decide the DA of central employees. As much as inflation is. The DA of central employees is expected to increase by the same amount. Dearness allowance of employees is decided twice in a year. Once on 1st January and second time on 1st July. The DA standard is prepared on the basis of CPI-IW data.
