Ramakrishna Forgings is planning to make major investments in the next 12 months to set up a renewable energy capacity of around 85 MW. Company’s Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer Lalit Khaitan gave this information in a conversation with PTI. He said that preparations are on to set up 75 MW renewable energy projects in Jamshedpur and 8 MW in Seraikela and Dugni plants. The Kolkata-based company manufactures and supplies carbon and alloy steel and stainless steel forgings.
He said that the cost of setting up green energy units at Seraikela and Dugni plants of the company is estimated to be around Rs 35 crore. Khaitan, however, did not give details of the investment to be made for setting up the 75 MW unit at the Jamshedpur plant. By the way, according to the established norms, the cost of setting up a renewable energy unit of one megawatt capacity is about five crore rupees. He said that with the help of these projects, the company will be able to achieve the net-zero emission target by the year 2030.
