Razakar’s teaser created an outcry! Demand is rising to ban the film made on Hyderabad massacre

The teaser release of the film Razakar, a period drama based around the events of Nizam’s Hyderabad before it joined the Indian Union in 1948, has created a stir on social media. The teaser of the film, which claims to be based on true stories, shows atrocities allegedly committed against Hindus by the Razakars to spread Islam and establish ‘Turkistan’.

Telangana minister KT Rama Rao (KTR) immediately shared his reaction. He posted on Twitter We will take up this matter with the Censor Board and Telangana Police to ensure that the law and order situation in Telangana is not affected. He was responding to a social media user who had requested the minister to stop the release of the “fake propaganda film” to maintain peace in Hyderabad and Telangana. The X user claimed that the teaser is also creating hatred between communities.

The Razakars, meaning volunteers, were a private militia under Qasim Razvi, president of the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (founded in 1927), who used strong-arm tactics against the people to ensure that the post-independence turmoil— Hyderabad remained an independent state during the turmoil. Of India. The Razakars were reportedly supported by the Nizam’s government and influential landlords who wanted to crush the peasant rebellions after 1946. Razvi, who was arrested after Operation Polo in 1948 and imprisoned for a decade, was allowed to migrate to Pakistan in 1957.

The film claims, “India got independence on 15 August 1947, but Hyderabad did not get independence.” It also attempts to highlight the alleged atrocities committed by the Razakars against the people of erstwhile Hyderabad.
Earlier, before the release of the teaser, MBT spokesperson Amjad Ullah Khan had said that the film is based on distorted history and pure imagination and has the potential to incite hatred among the people. He demanded a ban on the film. However, on Monday 18 September, political strategists and columnists raised concerns and appealed to the Telangana government to ban the film and prevent it from being released.

Saying that the film is nothing but a story based on fake propaganda, a citizen tagged leaders of the ruling BRS party in Telangana and said that the teaser of that film is also creating hatred among the communities. Another citizen claimed that the filmmakers had misused the images of Mecca Masjid with pro-Muslim slogans.
