Upme is preferred for breakfast. Upma made with shallots, millet, jowar, nachni and dry fruits is a healthy and nutritious recipe. Let’s know the recipe.
Material
30 ml coconut oil
5 grams mustard seeds
curry leaves
3 red kashmiri chillies, whole dry
1 ginger
60 grams jowar
60 grams millet
60 grams nachni
15 grams roasted cashews
10 grams soaked raisins
40 grams green peas
50 grams coconut, roasted grated
150 ml coconut cream or coconut milk
salt and sugar, to taste
Method:
1. Soak the millet in water overnight.
2. Heat oil in a pan, add chillies and fry till it starts smoking. Keep aside for garnishing.
3. Heat oil with mustard seeds and curry leaves. Keep some curry leaves aside for garnishing.
4. Cook onion and ginger in oil and add boiled jowar, bajra and nachni.
5. Add grated coconut and some cashews and raisins to it. Add water and let it boil.
6. Add coconut and add salt and sugar.
7. Cover with a lid and cook on a low flame.
8. Add green peas, cover and cook. Serve in a bowl garnished with remaining shredded coconut, fried chillies, roasted cashews and curry leaves.
