Uttapam is a South Indian popular dish made from a batter of rice and urad dal. It is eaten with coconut chutney. Let’s know the recipe.
Material
4 boiled potatoes
2 tsp chana dal
2 tsp urad dal
curry leaves
Green chilly
1 tsp ginger paste
3 onions
1 tsp raito
flavored salt
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp red chili powder
A pinch of asafoetida-rice and urad dal batter
3 tbsp oil
Method
1. First of all, heat two tablespoons of oil in a pan, add chana dal and urad dal, add mustard seeds and let them all crackle.
2. Add asafoetida, ginger, green and onions and cook for a few seconds. Add curry leaves and boiled mashed potatoes and cook.
3. Add turmeric, red chili and salt as per taste, mix well and cook this mixture for a few seconds. Add coriander leaves, mix and turn off the gas.
4. Now heat the dosa tawa on the gas and grease it with a little oil. Spread the batter on the pan. Let it cook for a few seconds.
5. Pour the prepared potato mixture over it and spread in a single layer. Turn the uttapam over and cook the other side in the same way.
