Mumbai Airport News: A record number of passengers have been registered at Mumbai Airport during 2022-23. According to the latest data released by the Airports Authority of India, Mumbai’s domestic and international passenger traffic registered a year-on-year growth of 102 per cent in the financial year 2022-23. At the same time, with a passenger growth of 96 per cent, Bengaluru stood second, Chennai (95 per cent) third, Hyderabad (69 per cent) fourth and Delhi (66 per cent) fifth.

About 45 lakh people traveled in the month of January

Earlier, in the month of February, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) had informed that in the first month of this year itself, 45 lakh people had moved through Mumbai airport. This was 149 percent more than the annual January 2022 number. According to CSMIA, in January 2023, about 45 lakh passengers traveled through this airport in 27,331 flights. It was told that due to the positive sentiment about air travel among the passengers and due to the holiday season, a tremendous increase in the number of passengers was registered.

Know the number of passengers at other airports

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), being the second busiest airport in the country, handled around 8.44 million passengers in January-February 2023. About 2.22 million international and 6.22 million domestic passengers traveled through CSMIA. At the same time, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport, Ahmedabad also witnessed heavy rush in the first two months. 1.74 million domestic passengers and 283,379 international passengers traveled from here. Whereas, Jaipur is the 11th busiest airport in the country. Jaipur International Airport (JIAL) recorded a movement of around 0.95 million passengers. Showcasing significant growth, JIAL handled approximately 69,300 international and approximately 0.88 million domestic passengers.
