Reduction in 5G network coverage in India in the year 2022, this is the reason

New Delhi (Best Hindu News): 5G services in India were introduced in October, 2022, but they are still not widely available across the country, leading to lack of network coverage. Also, according to Counterpoint Research, lack of awareness of use cases and few 5G handsets priced at Rs 10,000 and below could delay large-scale 5G adoption in the country.
There is still a long way to go, especially in terms of network coverage, said Tarun Pathak, research director at Counterpoint. Despite the current limitations, the increasing number of 5G smartphones in the market and their growing popularity indicate a promising future for India’s 5G ecosystem.
According to Counterpoint data, India’s 5G smartphone sales crossed the remarkable 100 million mark for the first time in May 2023, and also surpassed 4G smartphone shipments per month. The report states that there is a growing popularity of 5G smartphones in the low-cost band, especially those priced under Rs 20,000. In 2021, 5G smartphone sales in this price segment accounted for only 4 percent, but in 2022 the figure is set to increase to 14 percent.
Senior analyst Shilpi Jain said, 5G penetration will continue to grow with multiple launches and high demand for 5G phones among consumers ahead of the upcoming festive season. He added that Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEMs) are picking up on this trend and launching 5G phones in the Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 range, which has accelerated 5G adoption.
