Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday stressed on increasing the use of renewable energy, bio-fuels and hydrogen in the direction of making India the world’s third largest economy. The Prime Minister discussed ideas and initiatives related to taking India on the path of sustainable economic growth in a meeting with leading industrialists from the oil and gas sector here. During this, the Prime Minister emphasized on the use of 100 percent renewable energy and increasing the mix of ethanol and bio-diesel in traditional fuels.
According to sources, the Prime Minister, who came to inaugurate the India Energy Week, had a separate meeting with industrialists related to the energy business. It was attended by heads of international oil companies BP, ExxonMobil and TotalEnergies as well as Rosneft. During this, the Prime Minister emphasized on making India the leading country in the world in terms of hydrogen production. Hydrogen is considered the cleanest fuel. According to sources, in the meeting with the Prime Minister, a demand was made by the oil companies to reduce the tax in the oil and gas sector from 70 percent to 40 percent. On the other hand, some industrialists stressed on increasing ease of doing business through self-certification.
