Indian independence There were many prominent fighters of the revolutionary stream of the movement, who made their supreme sacrifice in the yagya of the country’s freedom struggle. Thousands of youths adopted the path of revolution and fought against the cruelty and tyranny of the British and were martyred laughingly kissing the gallows. Among these revolutionary heroes, the trinity of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were martyred by hanging together on March 23, 1931. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were the true sons of India, who gave more importance to their patriotism and patriotism than their lives and sacrificed their lives for the motherland.

Bhagat Singh was born on 28 September (27 in many places) 1907 in Banga village of Lyallpur, Punjab, now in Pakistan, to a revolutionary family, Sukhdev was born on 15 May, 1907 in Ludhiana, Punjab to a Khatri family and Shivram Hari Rajguru was born on August 24, 1908 at Kheda in Pune district. The admirers of Shivaji’s guerilla style were also influenced by the ideas of Rajguru Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak. When Mahatma Gandhi withdrew the non-cooperation movement after Chauri-Chaura. Angered by this, thousands of youths like Bhagat, Chandrashekhar and Bismil had turned to armed revolution against the British. After the Kakori incident, their anger increased further due to the hanging of the revolutionaries. Under the leadership of Chandrashekhar Azad, Bhagat and his comrades formed the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association. On October 30, 1928, a procession against the Simon Commission took place in Lahore, on which Punjab Police Superintendent James A. Scott got lathicharged. Lala Lajpat Rai was badly injured in this lathi charge and he died on 17 November 1928 after 18 days of treatment.

Bhagat, Sukhdev and Rajguru vow to avenge Lalaji’s murder and plan to kill James A. Scott. Exactly one month later, on 17 December 1928, all three reached outside the Lahore Police Headquarters as per the plan. However, in Scott’s place, Assistant Superintendent of Police John P. Saunders came out. Bhagat and Rajguru thought it was Scott and dumped him there. The way the revolutionaries came out of Lahore after the murder of Saunders is also a very interesting story. Bhagat Singh sat like a government official in the first class compartment of the train with Mrs. Durga Devi Bohra, wife of revolutionary martyr Bhagwaticharan Bohra, and their 3-year-old son. Rajguru went there as his orderly. These people went to Calcutta by train while Azad went to Mathura disguised as a monk. On 8 April 1929, Bhagat Singh and Batukeshwar Dutt threw a smoke bomb in the middle of the auditorium in the Central Assembly where no one was present to warn the British government. Here special care was taken that no one should be harmed. Instead of running away after throwing the bomb, he stood there shouting slogans of ‘Inquilab Zindabad’ and tossed pamphlets on which it was written – ‘It takes a loud bang to make the deaf hear.’ After this he gave his arrest. Both were kept in different police stations of Delhi for questioning. On June 12, 1929, Bhagat was sentenced to life imprisonment for the assembly blast. Bhagat was shifted to Lahore’s Mianwali Jail for the Saunders murder case. As soon as he reached Lahore Jail, Bhagat started demanding to treat himself like a political prisoner and to give him newspapers and books. After the demand was turned down, Bhagat and his comrades went on a long hunger strike in the jail, in which their comrade Jatin Das was also martyred. On July 10, the hearing of Saunders murder case started in which 14 people including Bhagat, Rajguru and Sukhdev were made prime accused. On August 26, 1930, the court convicted Bhagat Singh under sections 129, 302 of the Indian Penal Code and sections 4 and 6F of the Explosive Substances Act and section 120 of the IPC. On October 7, 1930, the court gave a 68-page verdict, in which Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru were sentenced to death while Bakuteshwar Dutt was sentenced to life imprisonment.

The lions of the country were to be hanged on March 24, but the cruel British, fearing to bypass the rules, hanged Bhagat, Rajguru and Sukhdev in Lahore jail on March 23, 1931, at 7.33 pm, about 12 hours before the scheduled time. Martyred by giving. As soon as all three reached the gallows, the jail started echoing with the slogans of “Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai…, Inquilab Zindabad and Hindustan Azad ho” and other prisoners also started raising slogans. Sukhdev was the first to go ahead to be hanged. The bodies of all remained hanging from the gallows for an entire hour and were not brought down till the doctors present there, Lt Col JJ Nelson and Lt Col NS Sodhi, confirmed that all three were dead. Hearing the news of his hanging, a crowd was gathering outside the jail. This scared the British and the back wall of the jail was broken. Through the same way a truck was brought inside the jail and on it in a very humiliating manner those dead bodies were dumped like a baggage. The last rites were to be performed on the banks of the Ravi, but the water in the Ravi was very low, so it was decided to burn the dead bodies on the banks of the Sutlej. However, people got a clue and they reached there too. Seeing this, the British ran away leaving half-dead bodies. Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev were the true sons of India, who gave more importance to their patriotism and patriotism than their lives and sacrificed their lives for the motherland. March 23, the martyr’s day of the brave sons who happily sacrificed their lives while fighting for the country, not only makes one feel respect for the country and pride in being an Indian, but also pays tribute to the sacrifice of the brave sons. .

The revolutionaries wanted to see India free from the shackles of the British but they never imagined that the country for which they were sacrificing their lives, one day that same country would be divided on the basis of religion. The Government of India has issued postage stamps in his honor and has built his martyrdom memorial on the banks of Sutlej in Firozpur, Punjab, where thousands of countrymen pay homage to him every day.
